Exploring structures in 3D

Thanks to spending a little time learning how to create animated GIFs, I’ve just been able to update my “research” page, to include some moving pictures like this one below!

Materials are inherently 3-D (although “nanosheets” and “quantum dots” come quite close to 2- and 1-D, respectively), so it really helps to understand them if you can see them in 3-D. So I transformed a series of 2-D images of various typical Coordination Polymers into short movie clips using GraphicsMagick, to make it look like they were rotating. Fun and educational!
