Kakenhi funding

After having spent several months last year doing mountains of admin and writing applications for research funding, I got the happy news last week that I was successful in one of them! It’s a JSPS Kakenhi Grant-in-Aid for Young Scientists (B), one of the smaller amounts available through this scheme, but it’s a great start for me as a young scientist. And every little helps!

The project that this grant will help finance is about crystal engineering of coordination polymers – trying to design and control their structure and properties based on fundamental principles – to achieve new and exciting materials for advanced applications. So over the next two years I hope to be able to report back some interesting developments…
