This month, Spring has well and truly arrived in Japan! I’ve been cycling to work under a beautiful canopy of cherry blossom:

Higashi Odori and sakura

The flowers are not the only things blossoming: my laboratory space is taking shape quite nicely, and I’m building relationships with some brilliant researchers at NIMS. I’ve even done some simple experiments, the results of which I’ll be able to build on when I have a bit more capability in the lab. And I’ve given a short seminar to the institute about my previous work and my current research ideas –  which I was pleased to have several interested people attend!

It’s also official that I work at NIMS: I’m on the website!
